Why American Elm Wood Frames? | About American Elm Wood

Custom framing can be expensive for several reasons. Here are a few:Why is custom framing so expensive

  1. Materials: High-quality materials, such as acid-free matting, UV-protective glass, and solid wood frames, are often used in custom framing to ensure the longevity and preservation of the artwork. These materials can be expensive, especially if they are sourced from premium suppliers.
  2. Labor: Custom framing is a highly skilled and time-consuming process. It requires expertise and attention to detail. Framers may need to spend significant amounts of time measuring, cutting, and assembling each frame to ensure that it fits the artwork perfectly. This is likely the primary factor that makes custom framing expensive.
  3. Overhead Costs: Running a custom framing business involves various expenses. These include rent, utilities, equipment, and insurance. These overhead costs can contribute to the higher prices of custom framing.
  4. Special Requests: Though allowing for a high degree of customization, which can increase the cost of the framing, this is another thing that can make custom framing so expensive. For example, you may request a specific type of matting or framing technique that is not commonly used. The framer may then need to source special materials or spend more time on the framing process. This can increase the cost.

In essence, custom framing is expensive due to the high-quality materials, skilled labor, overhead costs, and special requests involved in the process. However, the investment may be worthwhile to preserve and showcase your cherished artwork in the best possible way.

Should I Buy Custom Live Edge Frames?

People buy custom live edge frames from Craig’s Unique Frames for a variety of reasons. Here are a few:

  1. Unique and Natural Look: Craig’s live edge wood frames have a natural, organic look that can add warmth and character to a room. The live edge (the outermost edge of the wood) is left unfinished, which allows the natural texture and pattern of the wood to be visible. No two of Craig’s custom live edge frames are exactly the same, which adds to their uniqueness and appeal.
  2. Environmentally-Friendly: These live edge wood frames are made from salvaged wood, which can be a more sustainable option than buying new wood. By using wood that would otherwise go to waste, these custom live edge frames can help reduce the environmental impact of framing.
  3. Connection to Nature: Many people are drawn to the natural beauty of live edge wood frames because they feel a

  1. I understand that custom framing is quite expensive because of the unique materials and the time and ability needed to make them.

It would be best to use them for homes which are rustic or with a cottage-vibe. As well, in a room which is decorated so that everything is natural. Or in porch in a cottage.

Someday, I hope to buy one of your custom frames. They are so beautiful and unique! Such exquisite work of art.

  2. I love wood edged frames. But to be honest these do not fit in every apartment and every design. In my opinion these would be perfect if your house has the wood element a lot in order for these to fit harmoniously with the rest of the furniture. But getting a custom made wood frame will surely attract many eyes compared to a simple, boring industrial made frame.
